About Roberto
Roberto Durán is a retired Panamanian professional boxer, widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time. Born on June 16, 1951, he competed from 1968 to 2001, winning world titles in four weight classes—lightweight, welterweight, light middleweight, and middleweight. Known for his aggressive fighting style, exceptional defense, and iron will, Durán earned the nickname “Manos de Piedra” (Hands of Stone) due to his devastating punching power. One of his most famous fights was against Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980, where he won the welterweight title. However, in their rematch later that year, he infamously quit mid-fight, saying “No más” (No more). Despite this, he had a long and decorated career, cementing his legacy as one of boxing’s legends.
“Durán had the heart of a lion and the hands of stone—he was a true warrior.”
Mike Tyson
“Roberto Durán was one of the most ferocious and skilled fighters to ever step into the ring.”
Sugar Ray Leonard
“He fought with passion, pride, and a level of skill that few could ever match.”
Bernard Hopkins
